I recently re-purchased medical insurance plan for my children and wife. But I did not buy for myself as it is expensive. When I signed up the polices for them, it brought back memory in 2009.
From 2001 till 2009, I purchased a family medical plan for myself and my family members. Annual premium was RM3,500 for 4 of us. The policy was issued by Jereh Insurance (subsidiary of Hong Leong group) but marketed by Sihat Rakyat. I read the terms and conditions and aware of the cause of '...right of Company the cancel the portfolio ...''. I inquired every year with Jerneh to buy this medical plan direct from Jerneh, but I was informed that though medical plan ccame from Jerneh, it was marketed by Sihat Rakyat and I must buy from Sihat Rakyat.
My wife had utilised the plan at private hospital in PJ. Jerneh Insurance was prompt to approve her admission to the hospital and subsequent compensation for follow-up medical visits. Alas, in 2009, I receiveda letter that Jernsh wanted to withdraw this medical plan, and if I were to buy another medical plan, we have to go for new medical check up. I wrote letter to Jerneh to complain but its GM (technical) replied that Jerneh was exercising the clause' .... right of Company to withdraw the portfolio.....'. Despite the good reputation of Hong Leong Group, its subsidiary Jerneh can do such to its clients. So, beware , regardless of the whichever insurance companies, as long as there is such a clause '' ..right of Company to terminate or cancel portfolio..', don't buy insurance from such company. Never know when they will do this to you. Over the years 2011-02009, my h ealth has deteriorated and pre- conditions have existed. My own insurance policy would have been expensive. I elected Not to buy new medical further policy for ownself, while I bought for my wife and children.

My Mother, 94 years, passed away 26/3/2011
My mother finally took her last breath while sitting on a chair in her own house. With no sign of life in her eyes, she took deep slow breath for 2 hours, before blowing a last loud breath at about 11.30 am 26/4/2011. A brother and I with our wives were caring for her till the last breath. Unfortunately, despite 'appeal' to her to hold on and wait for the arrival of rest of the sons/daughters, she just could not make that effort.
Prior to mid-Dec 2010, my mother only needed our help to get her up from the bed. Thereafter, she would need her walking stick and the other hand to push a chair as her other support. She would sit on the potty chair to pee/poo , or she would go to the toilet by herself. Generally she had been 'clean' and easy to care for. Brother /sister (those who retired) rotated to keep an eye on her, bought her food, brought food and drink on table in front of her and she would scoop the food with one hand (the other hand was weak to reach table top). A sister would bathe her every evening.
Unfortunately she had a slight fall in Dec 2010, and since then she could not standup or walk as she felt weakness in both legs. She had to sit in wheelchair. Within a month of this condition, she developed incontinence and loss of bowel control. She would then became 'messy'.
We decided to put her permanently (the moment we raised her from bed) on potty chair. To prevent sores, we put cushion or 'swimming ring' for her to sit on. Mostly the sons washed her anus after every 'poo'. For bathing, one sister would come with help of a brother. After clean washing by the sister, the brother would lift the mother (with arm aroudn her armpit, facing her) up from the potty chair so that the sister (or another brother ) would mop dry the lower body and buttock.
For past few months (from January till her death 26/4/2011), every sons/daughter made sacrifice (time and energy) to ensure comfort for the mother. Mother appetite decreased rapidly in these few months, and started to take only few sips of porridge only from mid-Feb. We bought nutrient drinks to suppplement her diet. Towards the last 3-4 weeks, she sometimes refused to even swallow the water in her mouth. I had to squeeze her nose to force her to open mouth which led to her swallowing the water. Even during her last few breaths on 26/4/2011, my brother has fer her in morning few pieces fo bread soaked in coffee, but did no swallow these. It was only when helping her to breath that I noticed some dark matter in her mouth. Upon opening her mouth, I noticed the dark matter was bread and removed them with a spoon. One hour after doing this, my mother then took her last breath.
With her death, the most burden that had been laying on me for the past years finally lifted off. I had bad dreams previously (even when my mother was 70-80 years old) that my mom would pass away while I was not able to be at her side. Now that I was able to see her go sway peacefully right in front of her eyes, I felt so at ease (though very sad).
I missed the chance to carry my mom again.

MAS finally delivered the hiking bag to Mulu
In morning 17/04/2011, MAS sent the lost hiking bag from Kota Kinabalu to Miri Airport where MAS ground crew packed this bag onto flight to Mulu Cave. My daughter LC then sms at 10.15am 'hooray- I received the bag and now I go hiking'.
Whew!!! me too -- to shout 'hooray'
I wish to express my apreciation to the staff of AirAsia and MAS at airports of Miri and Kota Kinabalu for their highly professional attitudes to resolve this problem. t LC has spent some money to buy shirts at Mulu Hotel (in case the the hiking bag fails to reach her today), and I also spent money on handphone bills in making calls to these staff.

MAS lost the hiking bag on flight Miri-Muru Cave
In early morning 7.20am 16/04/2011, my daugher LC with her friends took AIRASIA flight to Miri.At Miri airport, they took out the hiking bags etc and put them to MAS counter for afternoon departure to Mulu- they intend to hike to the pinnacles 17-18-19th April. Upon arrival at Mulu, LC's hiking bag did not come with the flight. Horror struck, Panick!! That bag has all the suitable shirts and pants for hiking. Jane and her friends had planned this hiking for the last 3 months, and LC has taken 5 days leave from her work in Singapore. LC called her friends in Miri to approach Miri MAS Airport. By 4pm, MAS still did not know where had that hiking bag gone to. Then LC recalled at about 1pm while in Miri, she was informed by leader (Ms Lee whose brother John made the booking arrangement, flight and hotel, Mulu Park etc) ) of this hiking group that John said a AIRASIA lady called up to advise LC's bag is left in AirAsia office!. LC did not pay attention as she was sure she has checked in all correct bags into MAS flight to Mulu departure 2pm. Safe and sound! LC called me in KL and informed the incident. I called John who then sms me the earlier contact number of AirAsia who advised LC's bag was in AirAsia office. I called the given number. Behold!. That number belongs AirAsia Kota Kinabalu-- LC's bag which should be on the 2pm MAS flight to Mulu has instead been taken on an earlier AirAsia flight to Kota Kinabalu. How come? I then made inquiry with MAS and AirAsia. It turned out that both MAS (Mulu flight) and AirAsia use the same conveyor belt. AirAsia staff has taken LC's hiking bag off the belt and loaded on flight to KK (but why ? ). I managed to get staff contacts of baggage section in AirAsia KK, MAS Miri and MAS, Mulu. But I am outside their system. We have to get the hiker bag to LC in Mulu whose group will start their hike to base camp 5 before continuing to the pinnacle. Else all her efforts and money will wasted on this trip to Mulu. Everyone (all above logistic and myself)) agreed that the Hiker bag must reach LC as early as possible. Missing link is the MAS baggage staff in KK. Until 7pm, no one AirAsia KK and MAS Miri) managed to contact them to accept hiker bag from AiaAsia KK, and then deliver by next available MAS flight from KK to MAS Miri which will then send the Hiker bag by morning MAS flight to Mulu. If the missing link can be connected, then LC 's nightmare (and mine) will be over!! By 11pm, I managed to get to MAS Miri, who gave the good news that the hiker bag will arrive Miri by morning for subsequent flight to Mulu. Syabas to MAS and Air Asia - I stiill hv to shout SYABAS after going through hell to worry about LC

POS MALAYSIA sucks
On Thursday 9/12/10, my wife went to Pos Malaysia Taman Sri Sentosa (Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur) to send an important mail to Alor Setar by registered mail. She was given the 'red' sticker with number RD721518801MY.
On Monday 12/12/10, the recipient in Alor Setar said the mail still not received. We then clicked on Pos Malaysia web page to track the registered mail but the Web replied no such number was found.
On Tuesday 13/12/10, my wife went back to Pos Malaysia Taman Sentosa but the clerk said nothing could be done by her office. She asked my wife to go to Pos Malaysia's Post Processing Center (PPC) at Persiaran Perkilangan at Section 21 Shah Alam to check as that is the likely place where our registered mail has been stuck for past few days.
Instead of going that, we called Pos Malaysia hotline 1-300-300-300 at 2.30pm Tuesday, and the lady replied that she could not found the number either on her computer thus she could not track. So where is our important letter??
In afternoon 13/12/2010, we went to the PPC Shah Alam. Alamak! the staff there confirmed my registered mail has been been stuck in the complex and not processed yet, thus the track number not keyed into system of Pos Malaysia. They promised to get the letter to Alor Setar in next 2 days!!! We wondered though if the staff has indeed 'seen' our mail inside his office. Apparently a big mess is ocurring inside this PPC complex.
If I have sent the letter by ordinary mail on 9/12 (instead of registered mail), it probably already been received by receipient in Alor Setar
We hope (which should not be the case with this national letter service) the recipient in Alor Setar will receive the important letter before end of this week

Paying summons is really a pain and waste of human resources
I reached KL Traffic Office at about 09am 09/12/2010 and got my ticket number after the 300th. Already a big crowd was in and outside the payment office. Alas, then I realised the computer at the PDRM had been offline. Everyone fumed!! Finally at about 10am, the computer came back on line.
I was finally called called to the counter at about 2pm. Upon checking with the clerk, I was informed my few cars had 3 outstanding summons back till 2008!!! Yet, the web sites of 'Rilek' and 'myeg' both previously (25 Nov and 3 Dec 2010) said I did not get any summon!! I checked with the counter clerk on my wife's car and she also got a ticket in 2009, yet again previous check on the 'Rilek' and 'myeg' websites failed to show she got any 'saman-ekor'.
All our 'saman-ekor' were beating the traffic light!! I was surprised as I /my wife might have went through traffic light when the light was yellow, but we never went though a RED light. Havig waited so many hours just to reach counter , I did not wish to argue further on relevancy of each summon. I paid the 50% reduced fine and left the office.
And yah- I don't agree with saman-ekor as I doubted accuracy of each of the summons

PDRM e-providers are doing a dismal job
In Early Nov 2010, I went to JPJ renew my road tax but was informed I have a 'saman-ekor' by the police PDRM. Instead of 12 month road tax, I was allowed to renew for 6 months, until I settle my summon.
I later found out there are 2 e-providers to check summons, one is 'rilek', the other is 'my eg'. Upon clicking on both sites, registered on line, got acknowledgement by emails from both 'rilek' and ' my eg', I then typed in either my IC or car registeration.
Alamak, both sites said I did not get any summon.
It has been 5 weeks since my first check on these e-providers, and I checked again on both sites by 7th Dec. However, both sites still said I don't get any summon. I went to Traffic Police Department in KL, but did not manage to get the service to check summon as their numbers for clients were all given out by 11pm. A traffic police officer commented that 'rilek' and 'myeg' do not have upated summons.
What is the point of getting e-providers if they are not competetnt to update its contents, in this case, summons issued more than 1 month ago?
